Frequently Asked Questions

About Our Flowers

Are the flowers real? Where do they come from?

Yes — every flower or plant we use is real. We dry and preserve the botanicals before sealing them in resin. Most of our flowers are local: grown in our own garden in Innisfil, Ontario (roses, peonies, carnations, pansies, daisies, cosmos, asters, and many plants for our botanical gifts), foraged from local fields in summer and fall (mostly daisies and asters), or sourced from local Ontario farms and florists (phalaenopsis orchids, anemones, ranunculus, gerbera daisies, and other special seasonal blooms). In a few cases — certain rare varieties, preserved flowers, or seasonal pieces in high demand when a flower is out of season here — we may supplement with blooms from trusted growers in China or Japan.

What makes a "3D real flower" different from pressed flowers or artificial flower pieces?

A pressed flower is flattened, while our 3D real flower pieces keep more of the flower's natural shape, curve, and openness. With a phalaenopsis orchid, for example, we separate each petal by hand and preserve as much of its natural form as we can before sealing it in resin, layer by layer. It takes far more patience than pressing, but it lets the finished piece carry the dimensional beauty of a flower in full bloom.

Craft & Durability

Are real flower resin pieces fragile? Will they break easily?

We build them with durability in mind. Depending on the type of piece, many of our 3D real flower pieces go through 5 to 7 layers of sealing, each layer cured under UV light. This multi-layer process helps make each piece sturdier for everyday wear, while still preserving the delicate look of a real flower. That said, these are handmade pieces made with real botanicals, so they're best treated with gentle care.

Will the flowers fade? How long will they last?

With proper care, they are made to last a long time. We want to be honest, though: real flowers are natural materials, and their color may soften or lighten gently over time — this is part of what sets a real flower apart from plastic or artificial materials. Different flowers, and even individual blooms of the same kind, hold their color differently, so we don't promise a fixed number of years. What we do is use careful drying and multi-layer sealing to protect their color and beauty for as long as possible.

How long does each piece take to make? Why is your production limited?

Because every piece is made by the two of us, by hand. A single 3D flower piece moves through many stages: growing, gathering, or sourcing the flower; drying it; shaping it; sealing and curing it through multiple steps; and finally choosing and attaching the right findings. Some flowers dry quickly while others take far longer — a pansy may take about 5 days, while a phalaenopsis orchid can take around 25 days. Even with practice, a single phalaenopsis flower can take us about 45 minutes to shape and seal. That doesn't count design, beadwork, material testing, or the many failed experiments behind each piece. So far, we have not found a way to scale this work without compromising the details we care about, so we still make these pieces ourselves in small batches.

Materials & Sensitive Skin

Will it irritate sensitive skin? What materials do you use?

We choose skin-friendly materials whenever possible, and we list the materials for each part on every product page. Earrings and ear posts use materials such as sterling silver, gold-filled silver, or stainless steel — with pure titanium ear hooks coming to future pieces. Necklace clasps and connecting rings are usually stainless steel; hair clips use 18K gold-plated findings. Some pieces also feature freshwater pearls, natural stones, or crystal accents. Because sensitivities are individual, we can't guarantee that everyone will react the same way — but we do our best to choose materials that are comfortable and kind to sensitive skin.

Care

How do I care for my piece? Can it get wet?

The most important thing is to keep it away from alcohol and perfume-based products — resin is sensitive to those chemicals. Put your piece on after perfume, skincare, or hair products have dried, store it in its gift box when not worn, and avoid long exposure to strong direct sunlight, heat, or humidity. With gentle care, your piece will stay beautiful for longer.

Buying, Gifting & Custom Requests

Where can I buy your pieces? Can I meet you in person?

You can shop right here on our website. We also have a stall at the Art Market at St. Lawrence Market in Toronto, on and off through the end of the year — we'd love for you to come, see the pieces in person, and say hello.

Are all pieces one of a kind?

In a sense, yes. Because we work with real flowers, no two blooms are ever exactly alike — each piece carries small natural variations in color, shape, and detail. Pieces from the same design will look very similar, but your piece will always be a little bit its own.

Do they make good gifts? Do they come wrapped?

Very much so. Every piece comes carefully wrapped in a gift box with our card. Our pieces are often chosen for birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, Father's Day, graduations, proms, weddings, and bridesmaid gifts. Our real-flower resin paperweights — cubes and balls — are a favorite among customers shopping for men. One couple recently took home a phalaenopsis flower necklace to mark the anniversary of their relationship — moments like that are exactly why we love making these.

Can I ask for clip-on earrings instead of pierced?

Often, yes. If you'd prefer clip-ons, or a different ear hook or fitting, just reach out — when possible, we're happy to swap the findings for you at no charge or for the cost of the findings only.

Do you take custom orders?

Not full custom work for now — because every step, from growing and gathering to drying and making, is done by just the two of us, and we don't currently have the capacity for fully custom pieces. But if you'd like a small change to an existing piece (swapping an ear hook or clip, or leaving the crystal accents off a flower piece, for example), please reach out — when possible, we're glad to adjust it for you at no charge, or for the cost of the findings only.

Do you make botanical gifts as well as jewelry?

Yes — alongside our real flower jewelry, we also make botanical gifts and decor pieces. More of these will be coming to the website soon.

Shipping & Returns

How soon do you ship?

In-stock pieces usually ship within 2–3 days. Made-to-order pieces (when we already have the flowers dried and in stock) usually take about 3–7 business days. Please check the stock status on each product page — and if anything is unclear, you're very welcome to message us directly, since our small-batch inventory is sometimes updated by hand.

Where do you ship? Do you offer free shipping?

We ship from Ontario, Canada, to Canada, the United States, and select international destinations. We offer free shipping on Canadian orders over CA$79 (before tax) and U.S. orders over CA$250 (before tax). For other international orders, shipping is calculated at checkout and paid by the customer; international customers may also be responsible for any customs duties, taxes, or import fees charged by their country.

What payment methods do you accept?

The available payment methods are shown at checkout. Depending on your location, these typically include major credit cards and other supported options.

What if I change my mind? Can I return or exchange?

Yes. If you receive your piece and decide it's not right for you, you're welcome to return or exchange it within 7 days of delivery. The piece must be unworn, undamaged, and returned in its original packaging, and return shipping is covered by you. Please note that custom or specially altered pieces may not be eligible for return unless they arrive damaged. Please contact us first so we can guide you through the next steps.

What if my piece arrives damaged, or breaks while I'm wearing it?

If a piece arrives damaged in transit, please contact us as soon as possible with photos of the item and packaging, and we'll help — depending on the situation, with a replacement, repair, or refund. If a piece is damaged during wear, reach out to us: when possible you can send it back for repair, or we may be able to replace it, depending on the flowers and findings we have in stock. We want every customer to feel taken care of.
